Hidden meaning in Mary and Frederik’s upcoming tour

King Frederik of Denmark and his Australian-born wife, Queen Mary, will continue their accession tour next month, the Danish royal household revealed.
The couple, who took the throne in January after Queen Margrethe’s shock abdication in her New Year’s address to the nation, visited Sweden and Norway earlier this year as the first stops.
Now they’ll make their way to Germany for two days of engagements on October 21 and 22.

“In continuation of early summer’s state visit to Sweden and Norway, the King and Queen continue the trip to Denmark’s neighbouring countries in October,” the press release translated, said.
“Denmark and Germany are closely linked through a strong co-operation across the border, both when it comes to trade, green transition and security policy.”
The couple will head to the German capital, Berlin, as well as make a visit to the town Schleswig-Holstein, which is a border town in the north shared by both countries.
The pair will be welcomed to Berlin by the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his wife Elke Büdenbender.

During the visit, Mary and Frederik will also join together with members from the Swedish and Norwegian royal households for the 25th anniversary of the Nordic embassy complex in the German capital.
There will also be a formal dinner hosted in the royal couple’s honour by the president at Bellevue Palace.
But it won’t be the Aussie-born royal’s first visit to Germany since becoming Queen.
The country was actually her first overseas trip since the succession to the throne on January 14.

It was a pre-planned solo visit to Cologne at the end of January to support the Danish team in the European Men’s Handball Championship finals, handing out medals after the game.
Queen Mary and King Frederik also visited Germany as newlyweds, in 2004.
They were last there together in Germany in March 2017 when they attended the funeral of Frederik’s uncle, Princess Benedikte’s husband Prince Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg.
